Through this project, we aim to create a global project that explores the role of mothers in storytelling and lived family dynamics across different cultures; the tensions between parents and children pursuing the precarious but passionate life of an artist; the differences and commonalities of the political and personal concerns of young artists and their parents in different cultural and geographic contexts; and the deeper question of why young filmmakers seem compelled to shy away from maternal relationships in their work.
